Craps Basic Methods of Playing

Craps is a game of dice. Here are craps basic methods of playing.

This game is played by a single or numerous players. A pair of dice is shot or rolled by player taking turns at it. The player who takes the turn rolling or shooting the dice is referred to as the "shooter." There are several rounds in throwing the dice. The new or first round of dice throwing is referred to as the "come-out roll."

On the first roll or come-out roll the dice result is added. If the sum falls anywhere 7, 11, 2, 3, or 12 these are considered void and the round is forfeited. The current shooter is required to make another come-out. When the dice result has 2, 3, or 12, we have a "craps." When we have 7 or 11 we win or have what is called as a "natural." Any other sum result, like 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, etc. is the "point." A point calls for the shooter to roll continuously until a roll of 7 or another point happens.

In case the shooter rolls the same point, that round is terminated and a fresh game is commenced. The current shooter starts with a come-out roll. If a 7 is rolled, we have a "seven-out" and that round is done. The next player on the left of the previous player becomes the shooter. The betting is based on how a specific round will conclude—a point or a result of seven-out—and the bets vary in sizes.

Players may also wager on the sum total of the rolls, or a particular sum total rolls hit before hitting a seven. In a casino setting, craps basic methods of playing include wagers placed in the form of casino chips on a sophisticated looking craps betting table. This table is overseen by four dealers: the boxman, two base dealers, and a stickman.

The boxman oversees chips, dealers, and players. The two base dealers assist the boxman and gather or payout bets. The stickman stands opposite the boxman at the other side of the table, declares roll results and gathers the dice in place or to a shooter using a long stick. The stickman also arranges wagers placed at the center of the table. Dice throws are regulated and should pass certain requirements and the approval of the boxman.

Hence, these are the craps basic methods of playing. Winning is purely of chance or cheating.
